Jean-Pierre Fierens is of counsel in onze praktijkgroep geschillenbeslechting.

Hij is gespecialiseerd in het vennootschaps- en contractenrecht en is een van de meest gerenommeerde procesadvocaten van België, vooral op het gebied van arbitrage.

Jean-Pierre treedt op in diverse nationale en internationale zaken, zowel in gerechtelijke als arbitrale procedures voor cliënten in onder meer de bank-, voeding- en verzekeringssector. Hij vertegenwoordigt ook overheidsinstellingen.

Hij staat bekend om zijn rol in complexe en sterk gemediatiseerde geschillen met betrekking tot de bestuurdersaansprakelijkheid.

De afgelopen tien jaar is Jean-Pierre meerdere malen benoemd tot alleenzittend arbiter, co-arbiter of voorzitter van een arbitraal college.

Hij treedt ook op als raadsman in arbitragezaken. Jean-Pierre is een geaccrediteerd bemiddelaar (Center for Effective Dispute Resolution, Londen). Hij is opgetreden als bemiddelaar in een breed scala van geschillen op het gebied van ondernemingsrecht en contractenrecht.

Opleiding

Jean-Pierre Fierens behaalde een diploma in de rechten aan de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) in 1972, een Speciale Licentie Economisch recht aan de Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) (1973) en volgde in 1977 een speciale studie Fiscaal recht aan de ICHEC in Brussel. Hij heeft ook een Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) van de Columbia University (1980).
