The publication provides an overview of the Belgian legal framework applicable to the recognition and enforcement of ICSID arbitration awards, i.e., awards rendered under the aegis of the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes in disputes between (foreign) investors and state parties. It also explains the specific proceedings for recognition and enforcement of ICSID awards and reviews the specific features of execution in Belgium based on such awards, including issues of state immunity.

The publication highlights the attractiveness of Belgium as a forum for execution based on ICSID and other investment arbitral awards.
