The head of Strelia’s Dispute Resolution department Jean-Pierre Fierens and associates Su-Yi Leung Wing Cheung and Cyro Vangoidsenhoven have recently published a contribution on the liability of arbitrators under Belgian law in “In Memoriam Dominique Jossart and Renaud de Briey”.

This publication provides an analysis of the liability regime of arbitrators, with an emphasis on the specificities resulting from their hybrid function – jurisdictional and contractual –. The contribution also comments on the very first judicial decision ever rendered by the Court of Cassation in this field, namely the judgment of 13 January 2022.
